There are twelve layers of hair detail on this deer. I use a homemade brush made from squirrel tail hairs attached to a turkey feather quill to make a fine brush for detailing using specially modified acrylic paint. Multiple layers of hair make up a beautiful detailed fur. It is a stylized element in my hunting portraits that my customers absolutely love. They all want to touch the painting to see if they can feel the hair.
